Rights of Members
All members, regular and honorary, who complied with all the requirements, guidelines, and policies set forth by the Association are members in good standing.
Every member in good standing shall have the following rights:
- To attend the regular and special meetings of the general membership of the Association;
- To vote and be elected into office;
- To propose amendments and resolutions, and to vote on those presented at the meetings above mentioned;
- To request access to official records, documents, and papers pertaining to the acts, transactions, or decisions of the Association unless otherwise specified;
- To use the properties and facilities of the Association according to the rules and regulations agreed upon for this purpose;
- Such other rights and privileges as may be granted by the Board of Trustees.
Article 4 Section 5 – The right to vote and be elected as Trustees
The right to vote and be elected as Trustees of this Association shall be exclusively granted to Active Members and members in good standing. Provided, they are listed in the SEC Membership Book/and other forms of registration conducted by the Association and shall be certified correct by the Corporate Secretary. Provided, further, that only active members shall be appointed to any position in the Association.
Article 4 Section 6
It is understood that those who have been accepted members of the Association prior to the effectivity of the present By-Laws shall continue to be active members. Provided, further, that after the first general assembly and election, they shall satisfy the requirements stipulated under Section 3.
Duties and Obligations of Members
- Every member, whether regular or honorary, has the responsibility to abide in this Constitution and Bylaws, and rules and regulations set forth by the GC-AA.
- Every member must pay membership fees and annual fees in an amount determined by the majority vote of the GC-AA Executive Committee and Board. All dues payments shall be made to the treasurer and/or duly representative of the Association.
- Every member must support and promote the thrusts and objectives of the GC-AA and the College.
- Every member must participate actively in all Gordon College activities and GC-AA programs and projects.
- Every member must exercise his/her rights and do his/her responsibilities as a GC-AA member.
- Every member shall be entitled to exercise full membership rights, including the right to vote and hold office within the Association in accordance with the By-laws.
Disciplinary Action Against Members
The GC-AA Board of Trustees shall review and act upon all disputes regarding infractions of Association rules and regulations. The Trustees can form an Ad Hoc Committee that can render decisions in terminating a member from the Association.
The final decision of the said committee shall become final upon the approval of the GC-AA Board of Trustees at its regular monthly or special meeting. The GC-AA Board may overrule the Committee by a two-thirds (2/3) vote.
