The Forefront— Gordon College landed on 22nd Regional Higher Education Press Conference with the theme: “AI & Ethics: Shaping the Future of Campus Journalism in the Digital Age” as they victoriously pocketed several awards from multiple categories on January 11-13, 2024, at Arayat, Pampanga.
The Official Student Publication Unit of Gordon College dispatched 19 delegates to participate in the event and competed against 474 contenders from 34 campus publications across the Region III. The delegates participated in 14 categories.
Before the 3-day event, Bealyn Demanalata, Editor-in-Chief (EIC) of The Forefront and the Newly Elected YJAR 3 Olongapo City Coordinator, said that bringing the delegates to the competition was quite a challenge as she took a lengthy period to process documents required to join the competition, which clashed with personal errands that resulted in time constraints.
Due to the obstacle, Demanalata was skeptical about the feasibility of joining the competition.
“Pagsubok lang ‘yan pero kinaya dahil sa suppport ng Office of the Student Welfare and Services, Ma’am Lovelyn, our finance, and our college president sa Forefront,” she said.
Furthermore, the editor-in-chief said that the competitive spirit among the delegates from different campuses was apparent since everyone was dedicated to “winning the gold,” which added to the challenges.
