For the first time this year, the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Unit, in partnership with the Human Resource Management Unit, conducted a seminar discussing R.A. 11313 or the Safe Spaces Act and R.A. 7877 or the Anti-sexual Harassment Act held at the GC Function Hall, November 29.

Its aim is to raise awareness to GC personnels regarding such laws, because sexual abuse may happen within the profession that they are not aware of is already doing or experiencing.

These topics were discussed by Michelle B. Ubuta, Police Senior Master Sergeant (PSMS) from Olongapo City Police Station 3 – Women and Children Protection Desk.

In her first discussion, she highlighted acts of gender-based sexual harassment, both online and physically.

Furthermore, he also explained that sexual abuse has no age limit and sometimes it is those in charge and high positions who commit acts against such laws.

“The key for building safety in our community is respect” promise of Mr. Joseph A. Atencio, OIC-Head of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Unit, in his closing remarks.

He added, knowledge needs to be added and such a program is one of the methods they see.
