The Reading Literacy Program expanded its scope to include learners within the DepEd system facing reading challenges, such as non-readers and those with difficulties in English and Filipino. The program held sessions on June 9 and 22, as well as August 12 and 19, attracting voluntary participation. Despite the short duration, significant improvements were observed in the majority of learners. The culminating activity, conducted simultaneously across 17 barangays in Olongapo City, was highly successful.
The program’s success was achieved through collaboration among student facilitators, immersion instructors, CESU coordinators, local barangay representatives, the mayor’s office, and the Rotary Club of Downtown Olongapo City. The Rotary Club played a crucial role in printing the booklets used during the sessions.
