BARRERA ON WINNING MR. GC 2024: “Kung kaya ko, kaya rin ng iba.”
TAPINAC SPORTS COMPLEX – Carl Wilkin Barrera, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) student, hailed as the new king of Gordon College (GC) as he stands out among other male candidates during the Coronation Night on February 21.
In an interview with The Forefront, he revealed that he didn’t expect this kind of achievement and also believed that his opponents were more deserving compared to him.
“Actually hindi ko siya ineexpect na mananalo ako kasi sa totoo lang feel ko na mayroon pang ibang candidate na mas deserving na Manalo,” Mr. GC 2024 said.
Furthermore, he also didn’t expect the question since he only focused on what he had reviewed before the competition but his adlibs brought him to the crown he was aiming for.
Moreover, the BSIT student expressed how proud he was of his co-candidates despite the pressure and competition they have while he also gave some advice to the next aspiring Mr. and Ms. GC.
“They did their best naman and did their part, I’m proud of them and sa next na Mr. or Ms. Gordon College, kung kaya ko, kaya rin ng iba,” he stated.
Meanwhile, he discussed that he was open and willing to improve himself more especially now that he already has a title.
“Actually average student lang ako pero since dahil nagkaroon ng title parang nagkaroon ng expectation sa akin so im willing to improve myself more,” the new GC King insisted.
On the other hand, Barrera will also represent the institution at the upcoming Local Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (LCUAA) 2024.
