As we celebrate Consumer Welfare Month 2026 with the theme β€œSafe Products, Confident Consumers,” the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Zambales, in partnership with Gordon College and the Municipality of San Marcelino, officially launched Project METRO: Monitoring and Enforcement Tracking Resource Online on September 30, 2026.

πŸ’» What is Project METRO?

Project METRO is an innovative digital compliance system initiated by DTI Zambales and Gordon College in early 2026. It is designed to make market monitoring, inspection, enforcement, and tracking smarter, more transparent, and fully digitized.

Through technology, Project METRO aims to strengthen public service delivery and help create a marketplace that is fairer, safer, more efficient, and more accessible for both consumers and businesses.

πŸ›‘οΈ Empowering Consumers Through Technology:

At the heart of Project METRO is the Consumer Hub Page, where consumers can conveniently access:

πŸ“š Consumer education and advocacy materials

πŸ”Ž Important consumer information

πŸ“’ Awareness resources

πŸ“ Consumer complaint filing

Because an informed consumer is an empowered consumer!

βš–οΈ Taking a Stand Against Deceptive Trade Practices

Following the launching, the destruction of confiscated defective weighing scales was conducted.

Led by the Local Price Coordinating Council and DTI, the activity sends a clear message: inaccurate weights and measures have no place in a fair marketplace.

This initiative reinforces the government’s commitment to protecting consumers and promoting honest and responsible business practices.

🀝 Present during the launching were:

Hon. Mayor Elvis R. Soria

Hon. Louella Aquino, Committee Chair of Trade and Industry

Hon. Jay Peralta, Committee Chair of Public Market

DILG Zambales Director Melissa Nipal

Gordon College – College of Computer Studies Asst. Dean Armilyn Martinez

DTI Consumer Protection Division Chief Neil John M. Fabay

🌟 Together, let us build a marketplace where consumers are informed, businesses are responsible, and public service is powered by innovation.

Project METRO: Monitoring. Enforcement. Tracking. Resource. Online.

For safer products. For fairer markets. For confident consumers. πŸ’™
