Event Name : GC Throwback Photo Contest: 25th Founding Anniversary of Gordon College
Theme : GC@25: Sustaining Inclusivity, Living with Values of Equity and Responsiveness
Mechanics
- This contest is open to all/ public;
- Only one (1) entry is allowed per contestant;
- Must be an original photo coming from the contestant;
- Acceptable photos are:
• Photo captures using mobile phone;
• Photo captured by film camera and digicam;
• High Dynamic Range from several exposures;
• Black and White - Not acceptable photos are:
• Photos which utilized photo tools and effects;
• Photo captured by fisheye lens;
• Stitched panoramas;
• Photo manipulation - Allowable photo post-processing:
• Cropping
• Color enhancements;
• Shadows and enhancements. - Photo must be in JPEG format with 300dpi resolution (10MB max file size);
- Photo entry must not contain any of the following;
• Copyrighted material/s to include artworks and other photos;
• Date stamps, watermarks or any text on the image; - Photo entry must only be an entrant in this contest and must not have been recipient of any awards or recognition from other contests and/ or published in any media to include not limited to news, advertising, publications, website and other similar means;
- Contestants must agree and comply with the Official Rules of the contest;
- Photos that are submitted will be display on the gallery that will be set-up by Gordon College in celebration of its 25th Founding Anniversary on February 2024.
- Gordon College reserves the right to disqualify entries with incomplete requirements and non-conformity to the format.
- The deadline of submission of entries is on FEBRUARY 10, 2024.
- Participants are required to provide their name, contact number, and email address for communication purposes.
- All entries must be sent with subject title: “GC-25TH_THROWBACK-ENTRY_FULLNAME” via email to: info@gordoncollege.edu.ph
Rules and Regulations
- By joining the contest, the participants declare that the photo submitted is their original work, has not been submitted to any other competition, and does not infringe on any third party’s existing copyrights. Gordon College shall not be liable in case of any complaint or dispute that may arise regarding the originality of the submitted work. Any entry duly found to have been substantially copied from, or bears a material resemblance or similarity to, a prior existing photo/image shall automatically be disqualified.
- All the participants shall be duly acknowledged as the creators of their submitted works. The submission of each entry shall constitute only a single license for Gordon College to publicly display the work on its official social media page for purposes of gathering votes according to the judging criteria. In gathering popularity, names of the creator will not be included to preserve fairness and commitment to the other criteria.
Acknowledgement shall be done after the voting period and the presentation of the final tally of votes.
- The participant who submitted the winning entry hereby agrees to wholly assign and transfer his/her copyright ownership over the said work to the college.
- The college will be allowed to process the photo of that entry and use it (digital/ printed) according to its specific need/s.
Judging
The photo contest shall be judged according to the following criteria:
- Content and Relevance to the Theme – 30%
- Relevant to GC’s upcoming event, 25th Founding Anniversary
- Artistic Value and Communication Potential of the Image – 30%
- The photo should be original and should not have any resemblance to any existing photo or image. It should be an original photo!
- Technical Excellence and Quality – 30%
- It should have a good visual impact to the GC members in terms of look and can bring the good memories of the old Gordon College.
- Popularity – 10%
- This will be determined by the number of positive reacts (like, love, wow) on Facebooks
- For the popularity criteria, Gordon College will post in its social media page the entries from FEBRUARY 11 – FEBRUARY 12, 2024. The entry with the greatest number of likes or heart reactions will receive the full 10% rating. A prorated rating will be given to other entries based on ranking in votes.
The winning entry will be determined by the judges from the College President, Administrator, VPs, Deans, and the Chairman of the SSC. The College President shall head the panel of judges.
The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable.

The prizes for this event are;

- 2nd Place : 1,500
- 3rd Place : 1,000
