The Performing Arts Student Ensemble (PASE) ignites a synergy of performances on the second day of the 27th Founding Anniversary on February 25, at East Tapinac Oval Grounds.

The first segment featured PASE Ballo’s contemporary dance performance to the song ‘Tala,’ touching the hearts of GCians with their moving steps.

Furthermore, PASE Voci’s chorale performance filled the air with harmonic voices and unity, creating an ethereal atmosphere through their cover of ‘Bagong Umaga’ by Bayang Barrios.

The third segment was a play by PASE Teatro, showcasing relatable acting that highlighted the reality of social media’s impact on people’s lives.

In addition, PASE Ballo returned for another performance of a cultural inspired dance filled with enthusiasm and energy.

Moreover, the fifth segment was a collaboration between all PASE ensembles — Cuerdas, Teatro, and Voci. Storytelling and music united on a narrative of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) acted by Teatro and set to Voci and Cuerdas’s rendition of ‘Pinoy Ako’ by Bamboo.

Following that is a performance from Teatro’s newest troupe, the collectives. The four-member rap group sang Filipino hip-hop songs that captured the culture of Pinoy music history. They performed covers of ‘Venus’ by Ron Henely, ‘Ikaw lang’ by Kiyo, and ‘Upuan’ by Gloc 9, bringing back nostalgic vibes to many GCians.

Finally, the last segment featured a collaboration of Voci and Cuerdas. Following this is PASE Ballo’s dance performance, celebrating Olongapo’s culture and the jeepney tradition. The performance transitioned to Cuerdas and Voci, who performed a reggae song.

The event proudly celebrated National Arts Month this February, showcasing the diverse talents and artistry of GCians. Through various performances, the students highlighted their creativity and passion for the arts, demonstrating the vibrant cultural landscape of the institution. It was a testament to the rich artistic expression and talent that GCians have, making it a memorable celebration of arts and culture, leaving a lasting impression on the audiences at the 27th founding anniversary. | via Lei Ydah Lasala Ledesma / The FOREFRONT
