Two thousand Gordon College (GC) students enrolled in their National Service and Training Program (NSTP) courses filled the SMX Convention Center, Olongapo City, on Wednesday, for this year’s NSTP Graduation Ceremony.
With the theme, “Volunteerism in Action: Shaping Leaders, Strengthening Community”, this year’s batch of NSTP graduates was graced by Miss Manila 2014 Dr. Krischelle D. Halili.
Dr. Halili emphasized that leadership is an “act not for yourself, but for others” in her address. “Serve something greater than yourself and take your friends with you.”
Moreover, she called on students to love the country and God while also channeling ‘tech natives’ to participate in online community initiatives as well as community services and university council activities on-site.
Leading the initial confirmation of the graduates, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Darwin P. Paguio also delivered his special message, focusing on the impact of genuine leadership.
“True leadership is not defined merely by title or accolades but by the impact you make in the lives of others,” he said as he congratulated the “two thousand change-makers” afterward.
This was followed by the awarding of certificates to Literary Training Service (LTS) and Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) completers from the different departments of the institution.
NSTP Instructor Mr. Hubert Lew Magrata delivered his closing remarks to officially close the program.
