Bealyn P. Demanalata, Editor-in-Chief, O.I.C. Head Photojournalist of The Forefront – Gordon College and elected Young Journalist Association of Region 3 (YJAR3) Olongapo Coordinator, shared her views regarding the Women’s Month Celebration 2024.
In an interview with The Forefront, Demanalata expressed her perspective in the phrase “Women Can’t Lead.”
“Leadership has no manual, as it demands commitment and self-development. As a woman, I am determined to be an example to challenge the stereotypes and biases of gender roles and leadership,” the Editor-in-Chief stated.
Furthermore, the O.I.C Head Photojournalist also discussed that this societal belief was her least prority compared on establishing a system of leading with inclusivity, diversity and press freedom.
Moreover, the YJAR3 Olongapo Coordinator talked on what she had considered as being a leader of the publication.
“I am not a leader because somebody said so. I did not accept the position because I had to prove to the society that women could lead. Not for popularity or because of peer pressure. I take the lead because I can,” the student leader said.
Lastly, she showned dedication, braveness and responsiveness over her leadership career and ended with a stong statement, “𝗜 𝗮𝗺 𝗮 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜 𝗮𝗺 𝗮 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻.”
On the other hand, the Philippines celebrated the said event by the theme, “Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas: Kakayahan ng Kababaihan, Papatunayan!”
The Women’s Month Celebration was commemorated every March of the year.
