This Women’s Month, we celebrate the strong women who inspire and pave the way for others. The President of Gordon College, Professor Arlida Pame, exemplifies leadership and dedication.
Taking the helm in 2006, Prof. Pame has not only steered the college to new heights but has also made significant progress in empowering women within its walls.
Under her leadership, Gordon College has seen many milestones, but one that stands out is the establishment of the Gender and Development (GAD) Office headed by Dr. Abigail Legaspi, the GAD Office spearheads programs and training sessions focused on women’s empowerment throughout the year, culminating in grander activities during International Women’s Day.
Furthermore, she herself draws inspiration from a remarkable role model: Vice President Leni Robredo.
“Her hands-on approach and unwavering integrity are truly inspiring. The projects she spearheads to uplift the poor sectors of society are commendable,β the college president added as this admiration speaks volumes about her commitment to making a positive difference.
Additionally, when asked for a message for young women, the woman leader’s answer is clear and empowering: “Educate yourself, improve your skills, and explore the world. You can be what you want to be. Claim your right to choose. Half of the sky is yours, claim it,β she declares.
