Gordon College (GC), through the College of Computer Studies (CCS), opened its Mac Laboratory on the 5th floor of the building, room 507, last April 28.
This new facility aims to equip students with the necessary competencies to keep up with the quick growth of technological advancements.
According to Dr. Imelda D.P. Soriano, the College President, the Mac Laboratory aims to innovate the school through integrating smart classrooms over the years and to, ideally, attract international students, preparing the students for the evolution of Gordon College into a university.
Meanwhile, in a previous report by The Forefront, students from CCS initiated the GC CCS Tech Fest as a fundraising event last February for the improvements of the Mac Lab room and some of its equipment.
When interviewed again, Kurt Jeehan Terado, one of the eventโs heads, expressed his joy because their collective effort as students manifested in their school.
โKnowing that we were able to contribute something that future students will benefit from, I feel like everyone from our batch felt fulfilled,โ said Terado.
To add to their efforts, the Mac Lab units came from the Local Government Unit (LGU) as the funds raised through this event are for the sole-purpose of room improvements.
Moreover, Dr. Darwin Paguio, Vice President of Academic Affairs, declared his pride for GCโs achievement.
“The first local college na magkaka-Mac laboratory. [The] first in zambales, [the] first in region 3,โ Dr. Paguio stated.
With GCโs climb towards innovation, the institution also eyes international deployment of its students in Macau.
