Third-year Bachelor of Education Major in English student Jian Patricia Montelava crowned as the Ms. Gay Zambales 2023 and sat to her throne last November 18, 2023, held at Palauig, Zambales.
Meanwhile, Montelava said in an interview that, in spite of the hesitations she felt, her grandmother motivated and encouraged her to join the said pageant. Her attempt to face the stage was to make her grandmother proud.
“Navigating the financial aspects of participating in this pageant proves challenging for me. As a student and the primary provider for my family, my resources are limited, posing a hurdle in my journey through this competition,” Montelava stated.
In line with this, she gave advice to aspiring Ms. Gay contestants that are from Gordon College: embrace your authenticity with confidence, let your unique brilliance shine, and also remember to share the beauty of your purpose and advocacy.
On the other hand, according to Montelava, the goals of the Miss Gay Pageant in the Philippines are to spread love, happiness, and inspiration. “I firmly believe that it goes beyond mere enjoyment, possessing a purpose and advocacy dedicated to addressing various societal issues.”
Moreover, her majesty makes her name remarkable with a tagline “Negrang Tatatak at Tatalak.”
