Gordon College formally joined the Philippine–Taiwan Semiconductor Microcredentials Consortium during the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) held on May 12, 2026, at the University of the Philippines Diliman.
Representing the College were Dr. Imelda D.P. Soriano, College President, who signed the agreement on behalf of the institution, and Ms. Precious S. De Castro, Coordinator of the International Affairs and Linkages Unit.
Led by the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU), the consortium brings together selected higher education institutions across the country to strengthen the Philippines’ semiconductor talent pipeline through industry-aligned microcredentials in semiconductor design, manufacturing, testing, and advanced electronics systems.
As one of the fourteen institutions invited to the consortium’s second batch of partner HEIs, Gordon College joins leading state universities and private institutions nationwide in advancing semiconductor education and workforce development. Notably, Gordon College is the only Local University and College (LUC) included in the consortium through the recommendation of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), highlighting the institution’s growing role in academic innovation and international engagement.
Through this partnership, Gordon College students, particularly those from the College of Computer Studies, will gain access to globally relevant microcredential courses, specialized learning resources, capacity-building activities, and potential pathways to internships, research collaborations, and employment opportunities within the semiconductor industry. Partner institutions will also benefit from free participation during the consortium’s first year of implementation.
The College looks forward to maximizing this opportunity to equip its students with future-ready skills and contribute to the development of a globally competitive Philippine semiconductor workforce.
