Battling with big names in the Local Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (LCUAA), the Gordon College (GC) Taekwondo Team sealed the 12th LCUAA National Games with a victorious finish, collecting medals for the honor of GC on October 10 at Gov. Felicisimo T. San Luis Memorial National High School Covered Court.

Jayben Lancelot Uy conquered the ring, causing pity to his opponents and securing his second gold medal in LCUAA.

This is the fourth time that Uy is competing in the LCUAA National Games, and he described his gold medal finish in Kyorugi Light Senior Men this year as his redemption from his bronze finish last season.

“Iba po ‘yung enjoynment at excitement ko this season. Nag-gold na po ako dati tapos [naging] bronze nung last, kaya po iba po ‘yung enjyonment ko this season,” Uy said.

Meanwhile, Nathania Santos’ supremacy in the women’s division is evident as she clinched the Kyorugi Light Senior Women gold medal and became the Most Valuable Player of the Taekwondo Senior Women.

“Sobrang saya, training at positive vibes lang talaga kahit maraming negativities, go pa rin,” said Santos.

Santos won over her opponent from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa, in a sudden death round.

On the other hand, Beasia Lourdes Morrison, the GC Taekwondo Team’s coach, expressed his pride in having her players heading into this year’s LCUAA.

“I feel pride sa mga players ko kasi I know they did their best. And as a coach, masaya ‘yun sa feeling na nakita mo ‘yung mga players [mong] ginawa nila lahat para manalo, they did a good fight,” said Coach Morrison.

Moreover, John Vincent Manaluz in the Fly Senior Men Division, John Symon Punsaran in the Senior Men Bantam Division, Vanjoe Santos in the Feather Senior Men Division, and Brian Villanueva in the Welter Senior Men Division snatched bronzes in their respective divisions.

Furthermore, Unica Angela Hayah Fadiri secured the silver medal in Feather Senior Women Division; Andrea Divino in Fin Senior Women Division, Gedily Barrientos in Fly Senior Women Division, and Chrishelle Mae Agustin in Bantam Senior Women Division bagged bronzes.
