GC smashers bag gold, silver medals at LCUAA 2023
Glenn Ian Amancio, Krisha Maeh Estocapio, Janea Galindez, and Rose Ann Mesias of Gordon College Men’s and Women’s Badminton team made a splash after squeaking past the gritty Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (PLMun) and getting the gold in mixed doubles event and silver in women’s doubles at Laguna Sports Complex, October 11, 2023.
Amancio and Estocapio made sure that they can match the wild and roaring crowd as they shoved their opponent in the badminton mix doubles to earn the gold with a score of 21-11, 22-20. Meanwhile, Galindez and Mesias tried to survive the game, but fell short of winning the gold against PLMun and getting the silver medal.
“I think deserve naman namin manalo dahil marami kaming pinagdaanan at binigay talaga namin ‘yung best namin. Mahirap siya pero since nakalaban na namin sila (PLMun), alam na namin ‘yung dapat naming gawin”, Estocapio said.
Meanwhile, the badminton team are now focused to keep themselves on track as they prepare for the upcoming LCUAA 2024.
