Gordon College’s Institute of Graduate Studies (IGS) 12th Commencement Exercises with the theme “Mastering the Art of Adaptability: Equipping Graduates with the Skills to Thrive in a Vuca World,” held at Subic Bay Travellers Hotel and Event Center, August 4.
As presented by Mr. Rowell Y. Castillo, College Registrar, there were 52 graduates from the Master of Arts in Education, Master of Arts in Nursing, Master of Business Management, and Master of Public Administration.
The processional started at 4:00 PM with the flag and colors, the candidates for graduation, the faculty members, college officials, the board of trustees, and lastly, this year’s commencement speaker, Dr. Richard G. Daenos, Director, Regional Office III, Department of Tourism.
Meanwhile, Dr. Imelda DP Soriano, College Administrator and Dean of the Institute of Graduate Studies delivered the opening remarks on behalf of the College President, Prof. Arlida M. Pame, and her special message afterward.
Hon. Atty. Rollen C. Paulino Jr., Olongapo City Mayor, and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees delivered his inspirational message along with accepting and confirming the graduates.
In addition to that, Mayor Paulino Jr. also awarded the plaque and token of appreciation to the commencement speaker along with Dr. Soriano.
Everyone acknowledged the arrival of former mayor Rollen Paulino during the ceremony and also gave his congratulatory message to the graduates.
Moreover, Mayor Paulino Jr., Dr. Soriano, and Dr. Darwin P. Paguio, Vice President for Academic Affairs, led the graduate school hooding ceremony, diploma distribution, academic honors granting, and presentation of special awards.
The program coordinators—Drs. Ediric D. Gadia, Master of Arts in Education; Victor C. Quimen, Master of Arts in Nursing; Mark Alvin V. Lazaro, Master of Business Management; and Dr. Kristin Joy A. Mendoza, Master of Public Administration—presented the reading of the titles.
Furthermore, Ms. Christina D. Tamayo, Master in Public Administration with High Distinction, gave her heartwarming speech. Ms. Lovely P. Ceralde, Master of Business Management, President of the IGS Graduating Class 2023, led the pledge of loyalty.
The graduates also took their alumni oath, presented by Mr. Michael P. Tuyay, President of the GC Alumni Association, Inc.
The program concluded with the closing remarks of Dr. Paguio and the closing prayer of Dr. Luckyhansel Cerezo, IGS Faculty.
