Accountancy students of Gordon College gathered at East Tapinac Covered Court on February 25 for Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA)’s Ultimate Gamble Team Building.
The participants collaborated, competed, and conquered through strategy-driven games that tested teamwork and unity.
Demy Anne M. Roallos headed the Green Team (Berde Makausad), Triskelly Lianne Cyril Cabildo led the Red Team (Pulang Ina), Felicity Dyle Rivas guided the Yellow Team (Bibeni Luca), Aran Benz C. Sardañas captained the Orange Team (Ilocos Empanada), Shakira Nicole B. Guintu steered the Pink Team (cPINKa – Certified Pink Accountants), Jan Lester M. Bitangcol led the Purple Team (Ooh-Lila), and Hannah Jhem M. Malit directed the Blue Team (BIR – Bluereau of Impeccable Recorders).
As the event began, each team performed their energetic yells and presented their flags to start the event with a blast. In the first game entitled “Caterpillar Game,” Green Team (Berde Makausad) won first place, Orange Team (Ilocos Empanada) gained second place, and Yellow Team (Bibeni Luca) took third place.
For the second game of “Pass the Balloon,” Red Team (Pulang Ina) achieved the first place, followed by the Pink Team (cPINKa), and lastly, the Yellow Team (Bibeni Luca). As the third game commenced, entitled “The Floor is Lava,” Pink Team (cPINKa) was hailed as the champion, Green Team (Berde Makausad) as the first runner-up, and the Orange Team (Ilocos Empanada) as the second runner-up.
Moreover, in the station games, the teams played in seven stations, namely Pass the Ball, Cut it Up, Wrap-tastic, Balloon Cup Relay, Rollercoaster Ball, T-Shirt Relay, and Calcu Relay. Yellow Team (Bibeni Luca) triumphed in first place, Purple Team (Ooh-Lila) succeeded in second place, while Pink Team (cPINKa) acquired third place.
After consolidating all performance entries like preparing a final financial statement, Pink Team (cPINKa) emerged as the overall champion with a total audited score of 185 points, followed by Green Team (Berde Makausad) with 180 points, Yellow Team (Bibeni Luca) with 175 points, Blue Team (BIR) and Red Team (Pulang Ina) who tied with 170 points, and lastly, Orange Team (Ilocos Empanada) and Purple Team (Ooh-Lila) who both garnered 150 points. Furthermore, Blue Team (BIR) won for the best yell, while Red Team (Pulang Ina) claimed the best flag award.
According to Pink (cPINKa) team leader, Shakira Nicole B. Guintu, their victory came from proper planning before the activities and going all-in on collaboration. “No’ng nag-activity po kami, laging may nagsasalita and nakikinig. Pwedeng higher batch, pwedeng lower batch, basta lahat naman po kami nakikipag-cooperate,” said Guintu.
Guintu also added that the team building reflected real-world challenges in accountancy, helping them to be patient and to remain calm under pressure. “May activities na parang paulit-ulit na kami pero nire-remind namin na kalmahan lang, na i-go lang sa flow namin, sa pace namin,” the team leader stated.
The activity ultimately reinforced that future accountants must not only master numbers but also embody the 3 C’s—Collaborate, Compete, and Conquer—skills essential in navigating real-world professional engagements and organizational challenges. | via Justine Stephanie A. Canlas/The FOREFRONT
