October 11, 2023 – In a significant achievement for the Secondary Education Major in the English program, four individuals have earned recognition for their groundbreaking research. Ms. Myrnalyn Garachico, Ms. Queeney Fortaleza, Ms. Ma. Elisa Depison, and their esteemed instructor, Ms. Madeleine Marcial, have seen their research article titled “Pre-Service Teachers’ Level of Cognition in Teaching Grammar: Basis for Skills Refinement Plan” published in the prestigious International Journal of Academic and Applied Research.
According to Ms. Depison, “This study is about how pre-service teachers’ level of cognition can affect teaching and how it can be beneficial to learners and educational providers. They conduct this study to find out what things make future teachers think and learn about teaching grammar; and how pre-service teachers perceive and instruct grammar within the classroom.”
The students were overjoyed when they learned that their research had been published. “We’re on top of the world after reading the email,” Ms. Fortaleza said. “Although unexpected since this is our first time, we felt fulfilled.”
The study was not without its challenges, however. The most challenging part, according to Ms. Garachico, was the data collection phase. “It’s like trying to start a conversation with someone who just won’t talk to you – you’re left feeling stuck and frustrated. You must be extra creative in your efforts, perhaps even trying different ways to reach them, all while remaining patient and persistent.”
Furthermore, Gordon College with the College of Education, Arts, and Sciences ensures to continue shaping and fostering the students to be competent future educators by providing the highest quality education they deserve.
