The College would like to clarify the concerns regarding several graduates whose parents were not allowed to accompany them on stage during the afternoon cluster of the Commencement Exercises.
There was no policy or instruction limiting non-awardees to only one parent on stage. While this had been the practice in previous years, the College approved the Graduating Class Committee’s request to allow all graduates, regardless of awards, to be accompanied by two parents. This arrangement was successfully implemented during the morning cluster.
Unfortunately, a misunderstanding occurred during the afternoon cluster, affecting several graduates and their families. Upon learning of the incident, the College immediately clarified the approved instructions with the person involved.
The College sincerely apologizes to the graduates and families who were affected. A thorough investigation will be conducted to determine how this incident occurred and to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to prevent it from happening again.
We appreciate your understanding and remain committed to upholding fairness, consistency, and respect in all College activities.
