Olongapo City – Gordon College began its much awaited Accreditation 2024 in an opening ceremony today, April 3, 2024 at the SMX Convention Center, signaling a significant turning point in the college’s path to greater academic recognition.

The accreditation, facilitated by the Association of Local Colleges and Universities Commision on Accreditation (ALCUCOA), is scheduled to take place from April 3rd to 5th.

The Opening Day began with a vibrant atmosphere as the institution headed by college President Prof. Arlida Pame and College Administrator Dr. Imelda DP. Soriano together with the BOT Chairman and City Mayor Hon. Rolen C. Paulino Jr. welcomed the esteemed accreditors.

Afterwards, the Pase Voci began with a heartfelt invocation followed by singing of the Philippine National Anthem, the Olongapo City Hymn, the Gordon College Hymn, and the ALCU COA Hymn.

The college president, Prof. Arlida M. Pame, gave the welcoming remarks as she thanked everyone in attendance and emphasized the commitment of the technical working group, which was headed by Dr. Soriano.

In addition, she said, “our collective commitment to upholding the highest standard of education and academic excellence is not a mere duty but a sacred responsibility.”

Afterwards, an audio-visual presentation from the ALCU-COA that offered insights into the accreditation process was presented and later on, Mayor Paulino gave a speech outlining his plans for Gordon College and reaffirmed the school’s goal of becoming a university, demonstrating the city’s dedication to improving education.

Dr. Elena Presnedi, supervising lead accreditor, commended Gordon College as a frontrunner in accreditation, noting its pursuit of Level 3 status, similar to Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa. Expressing hope for Gordon College’s attainment of such recognition. Following her remarks, Dr. Presnedi presented the ALCU-COA Brief, a guide for the accreditation process, underscoring the rigorous standards and criteria essential for accreditation. With the guidance of experienced professionals.

Dr. Imelda DP Soriano, the College Administrator and CQAA Director, acknowledged the diligent efforts of the Gordon College accreditation team, paving the way for a successful evaluation. In addition she also mentioned school deans, faculty, and students, emphasizing their indispensable role in Gordon College’s journey. She acknowledged their collective dedication, stating, “Without you, we cannot make this.”

The highlight of the program was the introduction of the 11 ALCU-COA ACCREDITORS by ALCU-COA Supervising Assistant and Technical Assistant, Prof. Alain Anuevo signifying their readiness to assess and uphold educational standards at Gordon College.

Lastly, Dr. Darwin P. Paguio, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Officer-in-Charge of the College of Education in Arts and Sciences, gave final remarks to wrap up the proceedings. Dr. Paguio reaffirmed the college’s commitment, he stated that “we believe in the power of experiential learning where theory means practice.” And its confidence in meeting and surpassing the standards set by ALCU-COA accreditation.

In the next few days, the accreditation process will take place, and Gordon College is on track to reach another significant milestone in its pursuit of institutional expansion and academic excellence.
