Safety Reminder Regarding Cellphone Use on Stairways
To ensure the safety of all students and faculty, we are reminding everyone of the following guideline regarding electronic device usage on stairs:

Policy:
Cellphone use is strictly prohibited while ascending or descending staircases. This includes texting, browsing social media, making calls, or playing games.

Rationale:
Stairways are high-traffic areas that require full attention. Using a cellphone while walking significantly reduces spatial awareness and reaction time, increasing the risk of:

• Slips, trips and falls
• Collisions with other students
• Blocking the flow of traffic during passing periods

Procedure:

• Pause: If you must send a message or answer a call, step to the side and stop walking before using your device.
• Pocket: Keep phones stored in pockets or bags while navigating steps.
• Proceed: Only resume walking once the device is put away and your full attention is on the stairs.
