TRICKSHOT BADMINTON COURT—Flora Amor Francisco and Vherna Lei Castañada of the College of Education, Arts and Sciences (CEAS) made a powerful smash to victory in the Women’s Double category against the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM) with a score of 21-10.
The Trickshot Badminton Court echoed with loud smashes and cheers as Francisco and Castañada dominated the game, leaving the CHTM Sharks with no chance at victory. The first set ended decisively, 21-4.
Francisco expressed her thrill and happiness during the interview as they were the first to win gold for the team.
“We know na ‘yon ‘yung way para lumakas ‘yung loob ng ibang ka-team namin, para lumaban at manalo para maibalik sa CEAS Badminton ang overall. Also, I promised before I graduated na maibalik ang overall champ sa CEAS Badminton,” the victor shared.
Francisco also expressed the challenges they faced in synchronizing their movements during matches, emphasizing how it is one of the most important aspects of playing doubles—where victory depends on two players moving as one.
In the elimination round, the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM) Sharks battled fiercely with the College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) Wizards, with the Sharks taking the win.
In the semifinals, the College of Computer Studies (CCS) Phoenix faced the CEAS Mentors, while the College of Allied Health Studies (CAHS) Tigers battled the CHTM Sharks, setting up a championship showdown between CHTM and CEAS.
