The Office of Student Welfare and Services (OSWS) released an advisory on July 31, 2025, regarding the implementation of a new uniform policy that formally recognizes the right of students to wear components of the existing prescribed uniform that align with their Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, Gender Expression, and Sex Characteristics (SOGIESC).

This initiative aims to provide a space for members of the LGBTQIA+ community to express their authentic selves freely within the campus.

According to the advisory, the implementation of the proper wearing of uniforms, including this new provision, will start on September 8, 2025, for freshmen and transferees.

Meanwhile, for continuing students, the change will take effect on August 18, 2025. The wearing of the prescribed uniform will remain compulsory for all students from Monday to Thursday.

“In recognition of the spectrum of gender identities within our student body, the institution affirms the right of individuals to express their authentic selves through their attire,โ€ the institution affirmed in its official statement.

Furthermore, on “wash days” (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Mid-Year Term), students have the right to choose their attire, as long as it adheres to the Collegeโ€™s prescribed school attire and maintains decency.

This means the students are now allowed to choose from the established guidelines for male and female clothing, specifically, the pants or skirts that are already part of the school’s approved uniform, to express their gender identity best, provided the chosen attire still adheres to the Collegeโ€™s overall dress code and decency standards.

The said office encourages the entire Gordon College community to ensure the implementation of this new policy.
