Olongapo Cityβ Gordon College started its second day of accreditation as the GC Community Extension Services Unit and Association of Local Colleges and University Commission on Accreditation (ALCU-COA) conducted a site visit at Sitio Mampueng, Old Cabalan on April 4, 2023 to observe and assess the community.
The site visit was headed by the Community Extension Services Unit of Gordon College along with faculty members of CEAS, Samahan ng mga Mag-aaral sa Araling Panlipunan (SMAP) from Bachelor of Secondary Education – Major in Social Studies and the Communication Society (COMMSOC) from the Bachelor of Arts in Communication, two programs that will be accredited.
Along with this, the BSEd-SOC and BACOMM students conducted a literacy activity by facilitating the Alpabasa to the children of Mampueng and prepared a mini-game for them to enjoy. Also, the community of Mampueng gave a dance performance of their tribe to the Gordon College and ALCU-COA accreditors during the site visit.
According to Mr. Dante P. Sardina, the coordinator for Gordon College’s Community Extension Unit, the accreditors aim to observe and assess the impact of the institution’s services to the community of Mampueng.
In addition, Dr. Ediric D. Gadia, Vice President for Research Development and Community Extension Services (RDCES) was also present at the site visit and underscored that the initiative also aims to observe the performance of both programs when it comes to community service and see what are the services they conduct.
Furthermore, the ALCU-COA accreditors also visited IRAM II Elementary School located at Sitio Mampueng to see the reports of the programs in partnership with Gordon College and its impact and improvement on the students of Iram.
Also, various department of Gordon College conducted a site visit to different barangays and schools in Olongapo City; the College of Allied Health Studies visited Barangay Old Cabalan, CBA in Barangay Pag-Asa, CEAS – Math Majors at Iram National High School, College of Computer Studies at Sta. Rita High School, and College of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Gordon College.
Lastly, the ALCU-COA accreditors along with Ms. Lovelyn P. Ceralde, the Vice President for Student Welfare and Services (OSWS), and Mr. Joseph Angelo B. Pusing, Coordinator for Quality Assurance and Accreditation also conducted campus visits and went to different offices of the institution including the Gender and Development, Guidance Office, Disciplinary Office, Finance, Registrar, Canteen, and College Clinic.
