Payumo, former Samahan ng mga Mag-aaral sa Araling Panlipunan (SMAP) President (A.Y. 2025–2026), stood out as a double honoree, receiving the Academic Excellence Award (College Level) and earning a spot as a Top Nominee for the Youth Leader of the Year.

Payumo expressed that his success was a collective effort rather than a solo endeavor.

“I am truly honored and still overwhelmed with joy upon receiving this recognition,” he stated.

“There was no single specific experience during my presidency in SMAP that led me to this award; rather, in everything I did, I always strived to serve with love, for the people and for God,” he added.

Reflecting on his term, Payumo shared that he learned that leadership is defined by purpose and conviction rather than age, noting, “It is important to remain grounded, humble, and focused on serving others.”

He advised aspiring leaders to study diligently and love the country, reminding them that they hold the responsibility to build a better future.

“Above all, do everything for the glory of God,” Payumo highlighted.

Similarly, Adrian G. Leonzon, Former SMAP External Vice President (A.Y. 2025–2026), was also distinguished as a top nominee for the Youth Leader of the Year.

Leonzon described the recognition as “incredibly surreal,” acknowledging that while many exceptional youth leaders exist in the city, he believes his journey was guided by a higher plan.

“Managing community extensions, leading the Social Studies major, and representing our institution externally played a massive role in my growth,” he explained.

Moreover, he highlighted that projects like the MAKATAO Seminar and Project SMART 2.0 were instrumental in shaping his leadership capabilities.

Leonzon also emphasized that the most important trait a leader can possess is humility and openness to feedback.

“Leaders are not infallible; we are not always right. Accepting correction serves as a vital lesson that allows us to grow and improve,” he added.

To aspiring student leaders, he advised to lead with a clear purpose, noting that “when your purpose is clear and meaningful, everything else—including balance, time management, and dedication—will naturally follow.” | via Princess Alliyah B.
