With grit and glory, GC is at its peak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Gordon College (GC) futsal team kicked their way for the gold after the men kept their crown as back-to-back champions while the women earned their golden title from last year\u2019s bronze in the 13th LCUAA National Games held at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (PLMun) covered court last Tuesday, October 22.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As <\/a>the timer struck, contagious roars of energy filled the covered court between the GC men\u2019s team and PLMun who battled for gold, but the green warriors kept their net secured and finished the game with a score of 2-1, making the defending champions shut down their rival\u2019s hopes of winning for the second time since last year\u2019s finals game, all even in the absence of one of the team\u2019s pillar and MVP in the previous year, Mon Ivan Mendoza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The golden crown was then followed by John Eric Martin, who also bagged the best goalkeeper award for the men\u2019s category, while Alexander Nash Alvizo took the MVP award with a total of 11 goals from their six games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The men\u2019s MVP expressed his gratitude for receiving the title since it was out of his expectations, \u201cSa totoo lang unexpected po talaga \u2018yong special award sa\u2019kin na MVP dahil ang goal ko lang po talaga is ma-defend namin \u2018yung pagiging champion.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand, the women\u2019s team prevailed over Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Lipa (KLL) in the final game of the competition with a 1-1 tie, GC however had the upper hand with a 3-0 standing prior to the finals, while KLL had 2-1, making GC women take the victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aside from the championship title, the women\u2019s team received special awards with Odeza Marie Yap being the best goalkeeper, while Therese Frances Lamigos was awarded the MVP after a flawless run in the tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the short preparation time and a massive lineup adjustment, the men\u2019s futsal team managed to maintain their momentum and remain undefeated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSobrang hirap and sobrang sarap sa feeling na kinaya namin, basta sinabi ko lang sa team na hindi namin puwedeng biguin lahat ng nag-e-expect ng gold para sa\u2019min, lalo na name ng school \u2018yong dala namin,\u201d the men\u2019s team captain JD Jimenez stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anticipation builds for next year\u2019s event as Gordon College celebrates its championship victory. A more thrilling prospect is yet to come, followed by a stronger-than-ever set of rosters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
