The Gordon College library is currently undergoing renovation project which aims at transforming the space into a more dynamic and student-friendly environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an interview with The Forefront, Mr. Marlon Atencio, the college librarian, provided detailed updates and valuable insights into the objectives, current developments, and anticipated benefits of the project for students and faculty alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>According to Mr. Atencio, the upgraded library is shifting towards a “learning commons” setup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cKasi yung college library natin ang mangyayari ay parang learning commons na siya, kumbaga parang caf\u00e9 setup,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the college librarian announced plans to enhance the library by installing vending machines, similar to those at ground floor, allowing students to enjoy snacks\u2014though only solid foods, other snacks, will be permitted, with liquids excluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further mentioned that the timeline for the renovation\u2019s completion remains flexible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWala naman binigay na timeline, ang gusto lang manyari is as soon as possible matapos siya para siyempre magamit na ito ng mga estudyante.\u201d he added<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of now, the renovation is around 40% complete. Key areas such as the computer section and audiovisual room are being redesigned with high-quality materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, he also shared that various areas, such as the flooring are already underway and the renovation is focusing on upgrading both the structural and aesthetic aspects of the library to ensure a premium experience for GCians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students and faculty can look forward to an enhanced library experience. The space are expected to be more conducive to learning with upgraded seating, including sofas and modern furniture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, the college librarian also mentioned that they should not only expect the library to be well-maintained but also that its services will be improved to ensure that students can use it effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addressing the specific needs of students and faculty, the library will host separate orientation sessions to familiarize students with the new setup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cKaya hindi kami nakisabay sa student orientation kasi magkakaroon kami ng separate orientation sa library, wherein ang gagawin namin ay mag-kakaroon ng library tour ang bawat section, para alam nila kung paano gamitin lahat ng area, para maiwasan din natin [na] nahihirapan kung paano i-access [ang] mga gamit, pati mga electronics resources lahat \u2018yon it-tackle natin during orientation,\u201d he explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, he also discussed changes in the physical layout, such as new glass doors and relocating the lockers outside the library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, he encouraged students to reach out through the library\u2019s Facebook page for online inquiries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once completed, the renovated Gordon College library promises to be a welcoming and efficient learning space for all that fosters both learning and collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
