Selected faculty members of Gordon College recently participated in the conduct of the Association of Local Colleges and Universities Region 3 Research Council’s (ALCU R3 RC) Regional Research Seminar held on January 25, 2019 at the City College of Angeles, Angeles City, Pampanga. GC delegates were headed by College President and ALCU Region III Auditor Dr. Imelda DP. Soriano, Research Development and Community Extension Services Vice President and ALCU R3 RC Vice President Dr. Ediric D. Gadia, Research Director Dr. Roel P. Anicas, and the research coordinators from the different departments.
With the theme, “Creating Research Culture: Challenges and Opportunities among Local Colleges in Region III,” the ALCU R3 RC held a seminar where Dr. Bill (William) Atweh, a visiting professor of Far Easter University, De La Salle University Manila, and Philippine Normal University, graced the event as the Resource Speaker. Dr. Atweh shared his experiences in research and his observations with regards to the research culture in the country. Dr. Cristina M. Nuque from the Commission on Higher Education Region III (CHEDRO III) also attended the event to represent Dr. Caridad O. Abuan.
In the afternoon, parallel sessions were held where faculty members from different local colleges and universities (LCUs) in the region presented their studies in the field of Education, Business Management, Information Technology, and other disciplines. The following faculty members from the College of Education, Arts and Sciences presented their papers in the said session:
Aside from the oath taking of the ALCU R3 RC officers, the event also marked the launching of the maiden issue of Bigkis, the official research journal of ALCU R3 RC. Along with the abovementioned researches, the following papers, written or co-authored by other Gordon College faculty and staff, were also published in the journal:
In connection to this, the ALCU R3 RC will hold its 2nd Student Research Colloquium on November 2019 and 2nd Faculty Research Forum in January 2020, both to be hosted by Gordon College.
